At MTC, we believe that substance abuse is a debilitating condition from which recovery is possible through motivation, cooperation, and appropriate treatments.  Serving clients in South, Central, and Northern Michigan from our three locations in Lansing, Mt. Pleasant, and Gaylord, MTC offers the most appropriate and cost-effective services to individuals who suffer from an opiate addiction and desire to engage in a therapeutic recovery program. Fully-licensed and accredited, we specialize in the treatment of opiate addiction through a combination of the medication methadone and outpatient therapy.

An integral component of recovery, each client’s program of therapy is individually tailored to meet his or her needs, using the most current therapeutic techniques and interventions.  Clients are required to attend a minimum of two therapy sessions each month, and group therapy is also available.  Our eclectic approach to therapy is based on a “whole life” approach, and includes focusing on employment or education, mending relationships with loved ones, financial recovery, and any other aspect of everyday life that addiction negatively affects.

Under careful monitoring by medical professionals, methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) is safe, effective, and affordable.  When employed to treat opiate addiction, methadone performs three functions, all of which are integral to the recovery process: it prevents the symptoms of withdrawal, eliminates cravings, and prevents the client from experiencing a high in the event that he or she uses another opiate during treatment. MMT, the most widely accepted and best-studied treatment for opioid dependence, has been shown to reduce not only addiction related morbidity and mortality, but also the societal costs associated with drug-related crimes and the spread of bloodborne diseases such as HIV.  In addition, long-term MMT has been shown to be more effective than short-term or non-agonist-based treatments, and a high rate of relapse to opioid use has been found when MMT is discontinued too soon.

Our compassionate and knowledgeable direct service staff is comprised of professionals including board certified physicians, licensed RNs and LPNs, and licensed and certified therapists with over 200 years of combined experience in the medical and psychological fields.  MTC strives to develop and maintain a trusting relationship between staff and clients, every one of whom is treated with the utmost compassion, dignity and respect.

From our comfortable facilities to our friendly staff, MTC provides a supportive atmosphere for recovery.  Our therapy-based treatment program consists of on-site physician and therapist appointments, random drug testing, and prescribed methadone medication as an adjunct to therapy. To ensure the highest quality of treatment for our clients, MTC works closely with referral sources, as well as community, employers, physicians, outside therapists, the legal system, and any other agency or professional.

Accredited by CARF, and licensed or governed by DEA, OSAS, SAMHSA, and the State Methadone Authority, MTC adheres to or exceeds all state and federal guidelines regarding substance abuse treatment and confidentiality.
